A northeastward motion at a faster forward speed is \nexpected tonight, followed by a turn toward the east-northeast \nThursday through Friday. On the forecast track, the remnants of \nArthur should move farther inland over southeastern Texas and \nwestern Louisiana tonight, then cross the southeastern United States \nThursday through Friday.\n \nMaximum sustained winds are near 35 mph (55 km/h) with higher gusts. \nWhile additional weakening is expected as the system moves inland, \nthe remnants of Arthur will continue to produce widespread heavy \nrains across the southeastern United States during the next few \ndays.\n \nThe estimated minimum central pressure based on surface observations \nis 1000 mb (29.53 inches).\n \n \nHAZARDS AFFECTING LAND\n----------------------\nKey messages for remnants of Arthur can be found in the Tropical \nCyclone Discussion under AWIPS header MIATCDAT1 and WMO header \nWTNT41 KNHC.\n \nRAINFALL: Arthur is expected to produce rainfall totals of 5 to 10 \ninches, with isolated higher totals near 20 inches, through early \nFriday from the Mid and Upper Texas coast east-northeast into \nsouthern and central portions of Louisiana, Mississippi, and \nAlabama, along with western portions of Georgia and the Florida \nPanhandle.
