Arthur is \nmoving toward the northeast near 9 mph (15 km/h). On the forecast \ntrack, Arthur should move farther inland over southeastern Texas and \nsouthwestern Louisiana through tonight.\n \nMaximum sustained winds are near 45 mph (75 km/h) with higher gusts. \nWeakening is anticipated as the low moves farther inland, and it \ncould dissipate by tonight or early Thursday.\n \nTropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 175 miles (280 km)\nfrom the center. NOAA buoy 42035 east of Galveston recently reported\na sustained wind of 47 mph (76 km/h) and a gust of 54 mph (86 km/h).\n \nThe estimated minimum central pressure is 1000 mb (29.53 inches).\n \n \nHAZARDS AFFECTING LAND\n----------------------\nKey messages for Tropical Storm Arthur can be found in the Tropical\nCyclone Discussion under AWIPS header MIATCDAT1 and WMO header\nWTNT41 KNHC.\n \nRAINFALL: Tropical Storm Arthur is expected to produce rainfall\ntotals of 5 to 10 inches, with isolated higher totals near 20\ninches, through early Friday from the Mid and Upper Texas coast\neast-northeast into southern and central portions of Louisiana,\nMississippi, and Alabama, along with western portions of Georgia and\nthe Florida Panhandle. This could generate dangerous to\nlife-threatening flash flooding.\n \nFor a complete depiction of forecast rainfall associated with \nArthur, please see the National Weather Service Storm Total Rainfall \nGraphic available at hurricanes.gov/graphics_at1.shtml?rainqpf and \nthe Flash Flood Risk graphic at \nhurricanes.gov/graphics_at1.shtml?ero.\n \nFor a list of rainfall observations (and wind reports) associated \nwith Arthur, see the companion storm summary at WBCSCCNS1 with the \nWMO header ACUS44 KWBC or at the following link: \nwww.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/discussions/nfdscc1.html.\n \nWIND: Tropical storm conditions are expected within the warning area\ntoday.\n \nSTORM SURGE: The combination of a dangerous storm surge and the\ntide will cause normally dry areas near the coast to be flooded by\nrising waters moving inland from the shoreline. The water could\nreach the following heights above ground somewhere in the indicated\nareas if the peak surge occurs at the time of high tide...\n \nPort Bolivar, TX to Morgan City, LA...2-4 ft\n \nThe deepest water will occur along the immediate coast near and to\nthe east of the landfall location, where the surge will be\naccompanied by large and dangerous waves. Surge-related flooding\ndepends on the relative timing of the surge and the tidal cycle,\nand can vary greatly over short distances. For information\nspecific to your area, please see products issued by your local\nNational Weather Service forecast office.\n \nFor a complete depiction of areas at risk of storm surge inundation,\nplease see the National Weather Service Peak Storm Surge Graphic,\navailable at hurricanes.gov/graphics_at1.shtml?peakSurge.\n \nSURF:  Swells generated by Arthur are likely to cause \nlife-threatening surf and rip current conditions along the \nnorthwestern Gulf Coast for the next day or two. Please consult \nproducts from your local weather office.\n \nA depiction of rip current risk for the United States can be found\nat: hurricanes.gov/graphics_at1.shtml?ripCurrents\n \nTORNADO: A couple of tornadoes are possible through Thursday from\nthe Upper Texas Coast into southern Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama,\nand the western Florida Panhandle.\n \n \nNEXT ADVISORY\n-------------\nNext complete advisory at 400 PM CDT.\n \n"}
